Plot (Context and Setting)
TMRRW is a shortstay concept in Rotterdam that rethinks how we use space. Located in a dense urban area where every square meter matters, TMRRW sets a new standard for efficient and flexible living. Inspired by the Japanese washitsu – also known as the “anything room” – TMRRW blends cultural heritage with contemporary design. It’s a real estate concept that envisions the spaces of tomorrow: sustainable, thoughtful, and intelligently designed.

Characters (User Groups)
TMRRW’s users are temporary city dwellers – young professionals, digital nomads, creatives, and travelers looking for more than a hotel. They want a space that adapts to their lifestyle: open, flexible, and connected.
Storyline – The Washitsu as a Starting Point
The core of TMRRW is built around the philosophy of the washitsu: one room, many functions, depending on the time and need. This idea was applied throughout the location. The lobby is not just a reception area – it serves as a café, yoga studio, film room, and communal living room. The shortstay apartments are modular in design: sliding doors, alcove structures, 1:2 spatial ratios, and tatami-inspired layouts create a calm, adaptive environment. Here, space is not a limitation – it’s an opportunity.

Scenes (Design Translated into Form)
01 The entrance as extended living space – a welcoming lobby that invites interaction, rest, and use at any time of day.
02 The anything room – every space is multifunctional without compromising comfort or aesthetics.
03 Architecture in proportion – traditional Japanese 1:2 ratios and sliding panels bring balance and calm.
04 Sensory minimalism – natural materials, tactile textures, and thoughtful lighting create a harmonious atmosphere.
